Course description

Bell St Albans is located in the village of London Colney. It’s housed in an elegant Victorian building, within 60 acres of beautiful English countryside providing a safe and peaceful environment. The main building - for living, teaching, learning and social events - is set around a traditional courtyard garden. Students live and learn in our safe and secure schools.

Course description
On arrival, students are tested to make sure they are placed in a group that suits their ability. Students learn though their lessons, activities and cultural visits. Please see below the course structure:

Project-based lessons: 15 hours per week
Lessons focus on a project to suit the level and age range of the class. Students learn something new every time. Themes include:

• Nation of Information
• The Global Village
• Home To All
• Epic Journeys
• Creativity Unlocked
• Into the Unknown
• London Skyline
• Have Fun!

Electives: 9 hours per week
Upon arrival on campus, students choose two electives per week. A selection of active, academic and creative electives will be available each week. Examples include:

• Art and Crafts
• British Literature
• Cricket
• Dance
• Dodgeball
• Drama
• Film and photography
• Football
• Handball
• Health and fitness
• Journalism
• Lacrosse
• Music
• Orienteering
• Rounders
• Volleyball

Study tours (included in the course) - 1 per week (3 every two weeks)
Students will learn about British life and culture by exploring places of interest.
Each course includes a study tour to London - students may go on a walking tour or river cruise, or visit places such as Madame Tussauds, the London Science Museum or the Tower of London.
Students who stay at least two weeks, will enjoy another study tour to places such as Cambridge, Warwick Castle and Oxford.

Activities: 9 hours per week
After lessons, afternoon electives and a delicious dinner, students have an evening activity – more chance for your child to learn and practise English! Examples of evening activities include team-building challenges, treasure hunts and film nights.

The course can be booked for one or more weeks.

Arrival date any Sunday from 15 June to 10 August

Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.

If you are studying in the UK for over 11 months, you will receive a reference number called a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) that you need to submit to the UK embassy along with your General Student Visa application. Students who have successfully booked a language course and have paid their fees will receive a CAS from . Please note that UK law states that a CAS can only be issued to students who intend to pursue English language studies for over 11 months.

If you are studying in the UK for 11 months or less, you have to apply for a special visitor visa called a Student Visitor Visa. As a student visitor, you will not be able to work part-time while studying. If you plan to study in the UK for 11 months or less, a letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you.
