Instituto Andalusi opened in 2002 and since then has been offering Spanish courses to students from all over the world.
Our location is situated in the east part of Malaga called Pedregalejo. The area is a very quiet residential area, on a car-free street, only 100 meters from the beach. The school offers the perfect environment to learn Spanish.
There are lots of restaurants that serve typical Spanish food such as tapas and Paella, although Pedregalejo is well known as the best place to eat fish. Furthermore there are a load of bars, shops and supermarkets nearby and the center of Malaga is only 20 minutes away by bus.
From a didactic point of view, our teachers are all university graduates and have extensive experience teaching Spanish as a foreign language.

Claude, I am sorry to hear that you were not completely satisfied with the Spanish course. In the travel information we sent you before your departure you will find the link to the online level test that you have to take before your arrival. You took the online test on 30.1.24 with a result of level A1. We do not do a placement test on the first day of the course.
The headteacher divides the students into groups according to the results obtained by our online test. She talks to each student and explains that if the level is not right, it can be changed without any problems.
Unfortunately, the house next door is being remodelled. There is nothing we, at the Instituto Andalusí, can do except agree with the noise nuisance caused by this kind of construction work and we suffer a lot from it, but it is not in our power to solve this problem as these things take time. We keep talking to the person in charge of the works to ask them to make as little noise as possible during school hours, they try to comply, but on some days it has been unavoidable.
As for the rest, I hope you enjoyed your stay in Malaga very much. We are pleased to have met you.
Overall a good experience. The teachers are very nice and try to find a way to include every level of students. With new coming students every week, a great challenge!

The o institute offers language lessons in very small groups, teachers are motivated and react to the needs of the students. Lessons are practice driven with a minimum of grammar and maximum of conversation parts. Building has small rooms, but in a good atmosphere overall. Location can be reached with buses from city center without changing lines. Overall a productive week

Lessons, location and activities were great as was the homestay accommodation. Thoroughly enjoyed the 4 weeks tuition, 2 weeks 50+ and 2 weeks intensive course.
IT WAS VERY GOOD BECAUSE THE CLASSES WERE INTERNATIONAL.
I FOUND ONLY WITH 2 OTHER ITALIANS THAN MY FRIEND.
EVERYONE WERE NICE AND THE PROFESSORS VERY AVAILABLE.
NOT ALL THE OUT-OF-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES WERE FUN BUT THE TOURS WERE WELL ORGANIZED
All in all it was a very nice experience and I enjoyed my two weeks a lot! I lived in a shared flat and had a very nice roommate with whom i walked to school every day. The welcoming in the school itself was also great and there was no need to be nervous or whatsoever because everyone was super friendly and personal. The classes are small and personal, the teachers engage with your abilities and individualize their teaching. I was super happy with my class and the teacher and it was great to finally have a native Spanish speaking teacher (different to learning Spanish in school for example). We only talked Spanish in class and had a lot of practice time where each student was asked questions to really speak Spanish and not only learn grammar...
A lot of different types of activities where offered and I really enjoyed the dancing classes, but me and my friends found a more local course in the centre of Málaga which was slightly nicer :)
I made lots of friends and the atmosphere and the location (close to the beach) is honestly fantastic!
It was good that the classes were in the morning and short. The teachers were all really friendly and fun to be with most of them could speak other languages as well. It came in handy that my house was only five minutes of the school away. I think the school facilities were alright but i could not use all of them because of covid. The activities at the afternoon where all really fun. My housing was not the best because i did not like my host family.

The school was located in a nice neighborhood, 10-15 min walk to the beach, and around 20 min by bus to the city center. My host family was very friendly and helpful, and as my host mother could only speak Spanish, it definitely helped me to improve my language skills. However, it could have been a problem if I would be an absolute beginner, so it is a good idea to learn at least some basics before coming.
In the timing I did my trip there were only teenagers attending the school, which was a bit of bad luck for me, being in my mid-twenties - the activities for me differed from the activities for the rest of the students from the school, but I could get to know some people from other schools, as the activities were organized with other schools. I just wished there were a bit more of them, as there were fewer activities available for me than for the rest of the students. But in the end, I had lots of fun and could enjoy the trip a lot. I definitely recommend this school!
The school is nice and the teachers fantastic however they used to change every day. On a structure poit of view it would have been better to have always the same teacher. The classes are divided more considering the age then the ability. I would have expected and preferred a more academic course, more intense and definitely more homework. Improved my Spanish but not as much as I would have liked

Dear Veronica,
We are sorry to hear you didn’t like your experience fully and that you haven’t talked about that with the main teacher or with me, the director of the school, we could have solved it immediately. The students can always ask the teacher for more homework.
However, as you applied for the teenager course you are 13 years old, you were in a class with other young students and in this kind of course the approach is different than in the Standard course classes; in fact, the approach for young learners is less academic and more playful. It’s also true we change the teacher every day, because we found that every teacher has its own way of teaching and every student has different needs and we usually state it as our strong suit. Thank you anyway for your feedback, we are trying to improve every day.
Best regards
Rita
My experience was very positive and has matched my expectations.
My classes were very well structured, with good balance of grammar, lexical and oral exercises. During the 5 days, I had 3 different teachers and I liked all of them. They are very well prepared, motivated and providing additional information and exercises when asked. For example, I am always interested in expressions typical for the country, and I have received a lot of knowledge. I appreciate all the additional efforts of the teachers and their wiliness to follow our training needs.
The location was very good as well as the parking possibilities. The school has offered several activities, but I had my personal agenda. My accommodation was at walking distance and super clean. The family was friendly, welcoming and helpful (providing all the practical info needed). They were also motivated to help me with the language and have enriched my vocabulary.
There is nothing that I didn't like. The teachers were excellent the lessons were great. We had many discussions in class and get involved with each others different cultures.
The housing was great too. All in all it was great.
Homestays are carefully selected and offer students the opportunity to learn more about the local culture in a comfortable setting while studying Spanish in Malaga. These homes are often between 1 - 10 minutes away from the school by public transport. Families usually offer affordable meal plans that allow you to sample the local cuisine. If you have special requests or diet restrictions (because of religion or health reasons), please let us know in advance. Your housing starts on the Sunday before your first day of class and ends on the Saturday after your last day of class, unless otherwise noted. Learn more about homestay housing
It is possible to live in a rented apartment during your study in Malaga, but this tends to be more expensive. Andalusí provides some assistance with apartment rentals or you can rent an apartment on your own. Learn more about apartment housing
We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.
Your letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you.
Please note that we do not book flights for our students. If you are researching airfare costs, we recommend using Kayak.com, a search engine that lets you compare flight options from your home country to Malaga based on your budget, schedule and preferences.

1. Of course it’s possible to distribute the lessons, the most important thing is that we have to know in advance the different dates/blocks of lessons so that we can arrange everything in the best way.
2. We have many different housing options. The number of students living in a shared apartment depends on the apartment same: We have for example one in front of the school in which there are 3 double rooms, so the student will share it with at further other 4 people (or 5 if she decides to book a double room). On the other hand, we have a Villa, a big house composed of 2 floors with 8 rooms more one suite.
