- English proficiency among adults is improving globally
- Worldwide and in nearly all the countries studied, women speak better English than men
- Denmark, the Netherlands, and Sweden have the highest rate of English proficiency
- The dominance of English in Europe remains much higher than in other regions and continues to improve
- Asian countries have very different levels of English proficiency, from a high level to the lowest levels
- Almost all countries in Latin America, the Middle East, and North Africa have a lower level of English proficiency
