More about studying in Switzerland »
The Swiss have long been known as a peaceful and prosperous people and for their contribution to the world economy and the splendor of their beautiful landlocked country. Switzerland is geographically divided into three sections: the Jura Mountain range, which divides the Rhine and the Rhone rivers; the Central or Swiss Plateau where the majority of the population resides; and the world famous Swiss Alps. Because the country is landlocked by Germany, Austria, France and Lichtenstein, it has adopted many aspects of these cultures. In fact, taking German courses in Switzerland is very common. For the food enthusiast traveling Switzerland, you shouldn't leave without trying the cheeses like Gruyère or the chocolate. In fact, Switzerland is where milk chocolate was first invented in 1875. And of course, a trip to Switzerland wouldn't be complete without a trip to the Alps, where visitors can ski, hike, bike and listen to the Alphorns in tiny towns like Vals.

How long should I study?
The minimum duration for a language course is usually two weeks, but students benefit the most starting from the 3rd and 4th weeks of their language course, after they get used to the new environment. By this time, the early distractions are over and the student has "settled in". The average student takes about 12 weeks of language studies abroad.
