More about studying in Leicester »
English is truly a global, cross-cultural language – and studying English courses in Leicester will demonstrate that to you. In this ethnically-diverse, multicultural city, English links together people from a stunning variety of backgrounds and a multiplicity of religions. You don't need to worry about becoming parochial here – you won't have an opportunity to. Among its unique blend of historical monuments and fascinating modern architecture, there's no doubt that you'll be made to feel at home – and you'll never feel that you've buried yourself in a museum. With its theatres and its festivals, Leicester is a vibrantly alive place. Don't forget to make time for the Leicester Comedy Festival, or miss the Caribbean Carnival. If you're interested in contemporary art, visit the City Gallery once your classes are done for the day. Or just wander the streets and look at the buildings, from the Jewry Wall (believed to be the remains of Roman baths) to the ruins of the Abbey and the Guildhall, or modern masterpieces such as the National Space Centre or the Curve Theatre. If you prefer more active pursuits, well, don't worry – Leicester was named the 2008 European City of Sport for a reason. With rugby, football, cricket and athletics teams to watch, along with the racecourses and the motorcycle speedways, there's something for every taste. An English school in Leicester will offer you a place in one of the most vibrant cities in England, one with that unique energy that comes from the shoulder-rubbing of many cultures.
