The town of Fleetwood is located in the Wyre district of Lancashire, England. Students enrolled in English school in Fleetwood will see that the town’s most prominent feature is The Mount. The Mount is a small hill that overlooks the promenade. Sitting at the top is a pavilion housing the clock that chimes every quarter of an hour. To learn more about the town of Fleetwood and its history, be sure to visit the Fleetwood Museum. The museum set on the edge of the River Wyre. The museum gives visitors a look into the harsh life of a fisherman. Students will likely enjoy spending a great deal of time on Fleetwood Beach. Visitors can stroll along the promenade and enjoy the view over the Morecambe Bay. The nearby Fleetwood Market is a great place to shop. This traditional market hosts over 250 stalls where visitors can find a variety of treasures. The seafront Marine Hall hosts a number of events throughout the year including live music, dance and drama. Another unique excursion is a trip to Farmer Parrs. This extensive country life museum also is the home to a pottery studio. The facility also hosts special events at Chrismas, Halloween and Easter. Students taking English courses in Fleetwood might like to visit the Memorial Park in the center of Fleetwood. It serves as a memorial to those who lost their lives during World War I. Students can expect to experience a maritime climate. The area does experience slightly higher precipitation than the rest of the country. Frost and snow are very uncommon in this area.
