STUDENT PROFILE
Our Volunteer Programs are aimed at students seeking to learn Spanish in the framework of an experience with social impact. They have a minimum level of B1 and have previously completed one of our intensive Spanish courses to reach it. They are interested in issues such as cultural heritage, ecology, fair trade and sustainability.
BENEFITS OF THE SPANISH VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
Our Volunteer Programs give you a global perspective on the various environmental, political and social issues facing Latin America. This program is offered in combination with our Intensive Spanish courses. Contribute to environmental conservation, help indigenous communities or get involved in education and medical care, while continuing to practice Spanish with native speakers. Contact us to find out the places and fields in which we offer this experience, so that we can organize the program that best suits your goals and expectations.
Volunteer Program includes shared room in a traditional homestay, two meals/day, airport greeting, orientation, project management, and 4 hours/day of work Monday-Friday. Not included a special project surcharge of $ 100/week. This 4-week program does not include Spanish classes but includes weekly salsa dance classes and a conversation program.

Our partner school in Santo Domingo is located in the district "Zona Universitaria” and faces the campus of the largest Dominican University (UASD). The building is bordered by a garden with terraces perfect for socializing, while the indoor classrooms are cozy and simple. All of this adds up to a personalized and extremely friendly atmosphere. Jump on public transportation and in a mere 10 minutes you’ll find yourself in the city’s historic Colonial Quarter where museums, theatres and restaurants abound.

Santo Domingo de Heredia is just a short distance from the capital, San José, and the university.
It is a lovely little town situated in the heart of ‘Valle Central’ (Central Valley) and is known for its
friendly and hospitable inhabitants. Its beautiful park, the colonial churches and quiet streets make
Santo Domingo a picturesque town. For evening entertainment you will also find a wide variety of
restaurants and bars.
Homestays are carefully selected and offer students the opportunity to learn more about the local culture in a comfortable setting while studying Spanish in Heredia. These homes are often between 25 - 50 minutes away from the school by public transport. Families usually offer affordable meal plans that allow you to sample the local cuisine. If you have special requests or diet restrictions (because of religion or health reasons), please let us know in advance. We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.
Your letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you.
The closest airport to the school is Juan Santamaría International Airport (SDQ).
