Course description

This Immersion programme is for students who want to maximize their language learning practice during their stay and study with 2 friends or colleagues. The programmes focus heavily on speaking and communication skills: the morning consists of 4 hours which cover all aspects of general English and/or any special English required (business English, work-related skills, exam preparation etc.), while the afternoon consists of either more lessons (e.g. for exam preparation), specialised visits or cultural activities. Evening sessions are either directed study or more cultural activities designed to give further exposure to English in real life settings. These sessons provide the opportunity to practice with native speakers and learn the local culture and customs.

The whole experience stresses the use of language in everyday situations (in addition to formal classes and visits with teachers we will be taking all meals together). We will cover grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary, as well as reading, writing, speaking and listening. Students will all receive their own books and the teachers will use a variety of other materials , including, newspapers, magazines and internet based materials. A great focus is on authentic materials. This is especially true where students require specialist English training. The topics we choose are, as far as possible, aimed at the interests and work field of the student. Where students require business English or are working in a particular industry we will make sure that material is drawn from these areas. Where students are at university we will use materials that are connected with their field of study.

Exam students (especially IELTS and TOEFL) will receive intensive coaching in the relevant exam.
Where it is possible we will also arrange visits which are relevant to the field of work and study or reflect the student's interests.

All programmes include residential accommodation in the house and there are private bathrooms for students. The rooms are large doubles and very comfortable with views over the grounds and to the beautiful countryside beyond.

All the prices quoted are for the whole group (for 3 students).
