Gallico LCE / Alpine French School is situated at the heart of the French Alps and offers students the opportunity to combine French language learning with an adventure sports holiday experience of a lifetime. The school offers weekly to semester long courses.
The school is located in central Chamonix with walking distance to ski lifts, cafés, restaurants and the accommodation. Our teachers hold a university degree in FLE, and have been carefully selected to work at our school. They are energetic, young at mind and ready to welcome students of all nationalities and ages. Don't get surprised if our teachers socialize with the students at the indoor climbing wall or at the ski slope outside course hours.
We want there to be more to learning French than sitting in a classroom conjugating verbs. We believe in the total experience which is why our school was started in the first place. Not only do we want our student’s to be immersed in the French culture and every day living for the benefit of their language studies, but we want them to have the opportunity to indulge in their favourite alpine sports and activities.
The nationality and age mix at Alpine French School varies over different time periods, courses and levels. Throughout the year, the average age is 30. In the summer, the average age is 35.

As for the nightlife, Chamonix will not disappoint. From Monday to Sunday there is a never-ending array of options including a variety of DJs covering all genres of music, live bands, comedy nights, films, national events, sporting events, and even fireworks!
Around 14,000 people live in Chamonix all year round. I enjoyed the one on one conversation while spending time walking in Chamonix, which gave me more confidence to converse in ordinary situations
Show details » Read more...I loved Chamonix and I really appreciate our teacher! She have 100% in her job. The school was funny but educational at the same time.
Show details » Read more...I was quite satisfied with the school and the teachers. We were a small team of 3 persons the first week and 4 the next, so school days were short. I would have liked more time in school.
I would have also liked to do some study outside the school, like tasks or homework in the city, or actually using French in daily matters.
As somebody who already has a good amount of experience with the French language, this course was still useful to me. I learned many new, specific words, and the grammatical exercises also were practical. We also had the chance to express ourselves with speaking exercises. The enthusiasm of the teacher always made the lessons enjoyable for the students. The activity involved us going on the streets of Chamonix and asking questions to the local residents. This was very interesting and a good chance to exercise your speaking skills.
Show details » Read more...Teacher was great. Location was great. Activities were good but only two in 3 weeks, I expected a lot more, like climbing etc. Housing was good with a great view!
Show details » Read more...So, my english isn´t really good, but i would like to give you some information from my trip. I was 2 weeks in Chamonix. I lived with a boy (also form the language school) in an apartment near the school. My teacher was good, he made a lot of practice examples, what makes easier to learn French. The teacher was also funny, he make some jokes and that’s the reason why it wasn´t boring. I loved it for going snowboarding after the school, near Chamonix are nice pistes for skiing. A lot of evenings i have had fun with the other girls/boys from the school, we were going in the city to drink something or visiting the market in Chamonix. It’s nice for me to remember of this trip!
Bye Christine
