teaches students from all over the world, including:
Our school is located in Zona Colonial or Ciudad Colonial, the oldest constantly inhabited city in all of “The Americas”, claims to the first cathedral, monastery, university, customs house and hospital in the “New World”. There are over three hundred pieces if history including the monuments, homes, streets and churches.
The magnificent Colonial area, which UNESCO has declared a “World Heritage Site”. is where our Hispaniola Spanish Language is located.
Overall we had a very positive experience! We enjoyed our time at the school and learned a lot.
Housing was not relevant for us, since we had our own accommodation.
Location was great: ideal for us, renting an apartment in the Calle Mercedes.
Quality of teacher: our first teacher Ana is a very nice lady who combined two jobs so that must not be easy. For me, a more structured style would fit me better but maybe everyone is different... I was very glad that there was a fast solution when Ana didn’t come anymore.
I liked the school trip to Los tres Ojos a lot! And it was a pleasant surprise that we could go to El Conuco together!
We really felt at home in the school and would recommend it to anyone staying in La Zona Colonial!
Muchas gracias, Eli!
Fue un placer para nosotros que formes parte de nuestra experiencia en la escuela. Te esperamos nuevamente. Un abrazo,
Eli
Why not learn Spanish while on vacation?
This school is highly recommended!
Even I met 3 different teachers and I am thrilled.
Both grammar and conversation super and entertaining.
The host family was also very nice and completely uncomplicated.
In addition, the school is ideally located in the Zona Colonial and has short walks for activities the rest of the day .. in the old town, along the Malecon, Rtg. University district or just enjoy a mojito. :-)
In the surroundings of Santo Domingo worth seeing, e.g. weekends: Los Tres Ojos, Faro Colón, the beaches of Boca Chica or calmer / better Juan Dolio ..all easy and cheap to reach by minibus from / to Parque Enriquillo.
Have on the language study at the school, in Santo Domingo and during a short trip to the north coast exclusively good experiences, I do not want to miss!
For all those who still have it: also a good time, learning success and a lot of fun in the Caribbean!
Qué te vaya bien! ;-)
The teachers are knowledgeable and pleasant. They are pedagogically skilled and I had fun and learned new things during the well-adapted lessons.
The classrooms are well adapted and located centrally in the old town, close to charming accommodation.
The printed teaching material is somewhat outdated and has probably not changed in 12 years. Besides, it is difficult to make it stick together.
The activities and excursions offered outside the schedule are interesting, rewarding and well-planned.
I was lucky enough to attend Hispaniola during my gap year between sophomore and junior year of high school. I wanted a Spanish immersion experience, and Hispaniola provided such a great opportunity for me to do so!
I attended Hispaniola for 2 months. I was given a placement test so that they had a sense of my Spanish skill level. I was placed in a class with three other students that lasted from 8:30A-12:30P each day. I felt that I had individualized attention with a fun teacher that not only stressed grammar but also cultural aspects. I definitely felt more confident in my ability to speak and comprehend after this experience! After returning to the US, my Spanish teacher has been very impressed with my fluency and comprehension in Spanish!
I had the most terrific host family with 2 parents and 2 Dominican little brothers. They treated me like family and made my stay in the Dominican extra enjoyable. I was included in all family outings, errands, and meals and got to experience everyday life of being a Dominican. Because the older son was about my age, I also got to experience what it was like being a teenager in the Dominican, learning the slang and musical tastes from him and his friends. This added another dimension of learning Spanish since I got to hear the formal Spanish in class as well as the more casual slang in my daily activities outside of school. We had social outings like festivals, picnics, roller skating, hanging out at the local mall, and even attending a concert!
I will always treasure my experience at Hispaniola and highly recommend it!
