"Great hands on teaching"

Joe Francis, student from UK

A really great school. The school is run very well with classes always starting on time, and they always have time to listen to any concerns. The teachers are extremely intelligent and helpful, always ready to help when you have a problem. I couldn’t recommend this school more highly.

"This small school in a non-touristy, authentically local part of Cusco, within easy reach of the centre of town, provides the opportunity for an excellent immersion experience; in not only the beautiful Spanish language, but also in the culture and daily life of Peru."

Alison Rosalie Brookes MD

I have recently returned home to the US from my third month-long stay in Cusco, studying Spanish at Peru Spanish school. My teacher, Erik Gonzalez, was, as always, outstanding in every way. I took 4 hours a day of classes with him, mostly at the school in a small sunny classroom; and I cannot imagine being able to do that with any other human being because talking for 4 hours a day for 4 weeks with the same person would be very difficult, even in one's own language...but with Erik the classes simply fly by. He is well known by all his students for being very funny, but I also find him to be very wise and interesting to listen to. I learned a lot about Peru's political, social and historical characteristics and I gratefully acknowledge his extraordinary patience in correcting my grammar, as well as his tolerance while I struggle to make sense of a world totally different from my own. Of various specific talents that he brings to the table, the one that has helped me greatly is his ability to role-play medical situations since I am a physician seeking to be able to speak Spanish with my patients.
My lodgings, the same for each of my 3 visits, were with a family who live very near to the school. They were completely hospitable while also allowing me the privacy of a room of my own, and the freedom to come and go at any hour. I was especially grateful that when I was bedridden for a day with laryngitis, they were even more hospitable to me, and incredibly kind. Living with a family and speaking in Spanish exclusively for a month, certainly increased my exposure to the language and of course I learned a great deal more about life for people in Cusco than I would have done by staying in a hotel or an apartment by myself. This lodging was arranged for me by the school, for which I am very grateful.
The school itself is small and easy to access, on a quiet street. Nearby are numerous restaurants and shops, and the area is safe and quiet. It is the sort of area in which you recognize people and can feel as if you are part of the community. The only additional thing I would ask for at the school is a sofa in a quiet room so that I could lie down for a few minutes for a break between classes and perhaps in the afternoon. There was a nice swing in the garden but I was not sure if the school was really available to me as a place to unwind. Cusco, at a very high altitude, is absolutely exhausting and I felt physically ill most of the time, for the whole month, so a warm place to lie down would have really helped.
When I was at the school this past month there were very few other students so I cannot say whether the social activities were typical. I would prefer to do cultural and social visits as part of the teaching experience, perhaps as a basis for the conversation classes; which could take place off-site. I have visited markets, art studios, restaurants, shops and museums with Erik and other teachers, in small groups, and I think group activities during class time which include the teachers, so as to be a part of the Spanish-language-immersion experience, are the best option. The proposed organized activities were potentially fun but with so few other students, a change in the way of doing the visits, to make them more personal, would be more enticing.
Obviously if there were more students the school's dynamic would be very different and there would be more people to socialize with in the afternoons and evenings but when there are very few other students life can get quite lonely. I was incredibly lucky that I knew some other people from my previous times in Cusco, because without them I would have been very lonely until my teacher agreed to travel with me.
In 4 weeks, I not only greatly improved my Spanish but also visited Lake Titicaca, Puerto Maldonado, Arequipa and Lima; all while living a "normal" life in Cusco. It would be equally easy, (as I did during my previous times at Peru Spanish,) to visit Machu Picchu, and all of the other iconic locations in the Sacred Valley.
I think that Peru Spanish School provides an excellent Spanish-immersion experience. For the serious student, and for anyone seeking to learn everything possible about Peruvian culture, it is an excellent choice. Situated away from the main touristic centre but easily accessible to it, the school provides the option of taking one's time as a student seriously while being well-placed for a marvelous experience of life in Peru.
I would like to thank Erik Gonzalez for being my teacher. He is the heart and soul of the school, both inside and outside of the classroom and he is the main reason that the school has become so important to me.

"Nice people and use of english in a beautiful city."

Andreas Müller

At the time of my stay there weren't to many people at the school.
For my lessons it was good because I get privat lessons, what I
realised at the end was a really good thing. Because I met lots of
people before on my travel I never felt borred but I think other
students get kind of borred because there are no other students.
Just stayed two weeks at the peru spanish school in cusco but
they were great. Teachers like Erik, Miluska support my perfectly.
Conversations classe with Giovanna were great and really rich,
sadly just happend one time. Ygor was always really friendly and
he organised everything fast, if you would like to go on a tour.
Thank you to all you guys you made my stay perfect and I really
recommand the peru spanish school.
In the main time between classes I stayed with my guestfamily.
Grima Vargas and her husband Rudy Pompilla with her childrens
Nataly, Arely and Victor. They were just an incredible friendly and nice
guestfamily. They took some time to listen to me correct me and
pushed my spanish level to a next stage. The organised a football
game for me or showed me how to cook tradicional dishes. The
acommondation with hot shower and always good food was also
perfect. This cute, lovley and friendly were at least a journey to Peru
worth. I wish every student that he/she get such a good family.
Thank you family Vargas-Pompilla so much to be so nice to me.

"PERU SPANISH SCHOOL is familar, structured and professional"

Johann Niederberger

First learning Spanish before attending my Peru trip at «PERU SPANISH» in Cusco was the best decision. My stay at «PERU SPANISH» lasted 5 weeks from April to the end of May and initially I had virtually no knowledge of Spanish. All my teachers (Miluska, Giovanna and Eric) were very dedicated and the Spanish lessons were structured and professional, so after a short time I was able to talk all over in Cusco, in the market, in the restaurant or even with the taxi driver. During the breaks at «PERU SPANISH» all students spoke Spanish as good as anyone could and less often you drifted into English and the atmosphere at the school was very familiar. My accommodation at Hotel Rumi Punku in the centre of Cusco was provided to me by «PERU SPANISH» (Ygor, Eric) and I was very pleased with this hotel and would recommend it to anyone.

After 5 weeks at the «PERU SPANISH» I made a wonderful round-trip all-over Peru. Unlike previous trips to South America, this time, thanks to «PERU SPANISH», I was able to enjoy the journey much more with my newly acquired Spanish knowledge.
A very, very big thank you to «PERU SPANISH»!
SALUDOS!

"A child's dream come true!"

Vinícius Borges de Oliveira

It was a dream since the time of school to live and study outside Brazil, that after some achievements, I managed to do more of this! I chose a trusted agency here from Brazil that made the intermediation for my dream to happen .. and went without fear! I was a little scared not knowing which family would receive me, but it was love at first sight with everyone there !! The young foreigners who were there too! Everything perfect ! E and school, had no better location to choose from !! Close to a lot of good stuff and my house. Perfect classrooms, excellent teachers and a warm and welcoming atmosphere! All brand new and with great preparation and care for the students! I would love to repeat this exchange again next year for my story and then be able to tell my future children !!! Thank you Peru spanish for welcoming me with open arms ...

And when I had problems .. no one in the family I lived and the school principal stopped reaching out to help me without even thinking twice !! It was the third time I went to Peru - Cusco and I want to go back to live for many years !!

"The perfect environment to improve your Spanish."

Jana Stadelmann

The week I spent in Cusco was the last of 3 months of Spanish school. My level of Spanish was already quite advanced & I was lucky enough to be in a class with 3 other students, with the same level of knowledge as me. The class size was big enough to be able to play some fun games & small enough to actually learn something. The teachers were great too.
I chose to stay with a local family with 2 kids. They were really nice and very helpful with planning my weekend trip to Machu Picchu.
