One-to-One Intensive English

Take some time away and immerse yourself in the English language.

We are based in Brecon, Powys, Wales, UK an hour away from Cardiff.

At Honddu Villa you can relax as if at home and improve your English in a friendly and supportive environment.

We can work on your business presentations, focus on professional exams or have your children feeling familiar and comfortable with the language.

We provide bespoke, fully inclusive residential language courses tailored to your needs.

Your teacher is certified by the University of London with a BA Hons in MFL and a PGDE from Aberystwyth University and an MA in English Literature.

We offer a minimum of four hours daily of formal lessons and continuous language immersion.

The afternoons are yours: you can enjoy the house and garden, the garden is bordered by a small river. We can taxi you free to nearly all of the following activities and back:-

Visit Brecon Cathedral
Visit the shops, cafés, museum, State-of-the-Art library and Galleries in Brecon.
Co-steering in the Honddu River, or Ffwdgrech waterfalls - meaning to walk in the water with gym
shoes and clothes rather than on the overgrown bank. Free
Walking in the Brecon Beacons, or the hills on the doorstep of Honddu Villa - free.
Badminton in the garden - free
Croquet or frisbee in the garden - free
Silver service tea and scones in the garden - free
Ping-pong on the patio - free
Tennis on a good court on a private estate nearby - free.
Sitting on the river-shallows on the beach in the garden, in a camp-chair, reading or relaxing while
tiny trout nibble your toes.

Honddu Villa is five miles north of the welsh market-town of Brecon. Brecon is famous for the
Brecon Beacons (mountains) and is popular with walkers. The property is a detached five-
bedroomed residence in a rural valley and is surrounded by fields. The front of the property is
Georgian; it is a modern extension to the original eighteenth-century cottage, and it stands alone in
an acre of garden. It is bordered by a small and pretty river. The Honddu River is slow moving and
shallow - three feet at the deepest - and about twenty feet from bank to bank. One can have
breakfast on the riverbank while overlooking the water and it is normal to see kingfishers fly close-
by.

Rooms appointed are primarily for language-learners staying for a language-immersion experience.
Plenty of cupboard and draw space is made available for guests in their appointed room.

Double or twin room 4.3m x 3.6 metres
Single room with a low ceiling. One bed. One chair. 3.3m x 2.6m
One room 4.4m x 4.3m . Can be used as a single, double or twin.

Two bathrooms. One with a shower, bath and lavatory; the other room with a lavatory and shower.
Either of these can be appointed to a particular guest.

Scrabble, cards or similar in the evening.
