Our English for Medical Purposes course is taught by experienced English teachers focused on preparing doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals for working and studying in English-speaking environments. Our goal is to provide the language our students will need to be successful in the unique world of medical professionals. Throughout the course, we emphasise real-life communication – from history-taking and examination to diagnosis and treatment – and provide the student with the self-learning skills, and self-awareness, to take away with them for the rest of their careers.
Topics covered include:
• Taking histories
• Examining patients
• Investigations
• Making and sharing diagnoses
• Treatment
• Report-writing and Presentations
• Research
• Ethics
• Admissions, Discharging for nurses
• Patient care for nurses
• Key vocabulary of the body, medicine and disease
• Patient communication skills
• Authentic Materials – a selection of articles, memoirs and videos designed to take your learning
beyond the coursebook.
Our English for Medical Purposes courses will develop all four skills – reading, listening, speaking and writing – and help students gain confidence in the use of specific medical terminology. Courses are flexible in order to meet the individual needs of our students.

KKCL has been offering quality English classes to adults, juniors and businesses since 2002.
We have been dedicated to providing quality courses to local and overseas students. We are accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English to adults and juniors in the UK. We believe strongly in the value of the teacher- that’s why we select and develop teachers who have more than just qualifications. Our teachers combine a passion for education with skills and interests in a wide range of fields.
We are committed to making your learning experience practical, challenging and – most importantly – tailored to your needs, so you can benefit from lessons which are well planned, well-focused, challenging and encourage independent learning.
Our flagship school is located in a Grade II listed building in Harrow – originally a 19th-century village school house. You will find the school has excellent modern facilities, bright, cosy classrooms, a comfortable student lounge, an adjoining self-access computer room, a recording studio and our own stylish cafeteria serving a wide variety of international food. The school is less than a 5-minute walk away from the Piccadilly line into central London.
Effective English Training for Adults
English is something to use, NOT to learn – why our lessons work:
Students are individuals – we develop our own syllabus, thoroughly road-tested over the years, regularly updated, and reviewed multiple times by the British Council. This has been proven to deliver more of a student-centred learning experience than following a textbook. In other words, after establishing students’ individual needs, our teachers design student-centred lessons that focus on the language weaknesses and goals of the learners in the class. We aim to get as close as possible to the tailored experience of a one-to-one lesson within our group classes – a much more tailored experience than many schools can offer.
Progress is clear – from day one we build a Learner Profile for each student using our own placement test and needs analysis information. Students have weekly progress checks and regular personal tutorials with our Director of Studies, to target learning goals in a timely and precise way. Students’ progress is assessed on what they can do with English as well as what they know. Each student has a personalised student portal with helpful comments from their teachers and regular tracking of their progress through the CEFR language levels, using our English Score System.
We know exams inside-out – we are a Trinity, Language Cert and TELC exam centre, with examiners as part of our staff so students can prepare for and take these exams in our school. We also offer TELC exams in fields as diverse as Business / Hotel & Restaurant / Technical English for Engineers. We work with many corporate clients including the NHS, IKEA, Sky, Red Bull, OneSubsea and many more.
The nationality and age mix at KKCL Harrow (All year Round) varies over different time periods, courses and levels. Throughout the year, the average age is 23. In the summer, the average age is 18.

KKCL is situated in a beautiful Grade II listed building in Harrow, North West London. Our location within London provides overseas learners with the convenience of a leading global city as well as a rich cultural experience.
Harrow is self-sufficient with plenty of excellent shops, cafés, and restaurants, but if you feel the need to hit the big city, our College is only a few minutes walk from the London Underground’s Piccadilly line or National Rail services to Marylebone Station. There are also a number of bus routes connecting us with various parts of West London, including Wembley.
Good evening,
I found very confusing at the first days, because I did the test required to enter the school in General English, but they said they were having issues with the teacher, she did not show up. Than they left me in the course for IELTS tests. I subscribed for a course that was supposed to be one week and I spent 2 of my 5 days in the IELTS course but besides that everything was fine, I took some training on my university to do the exam if I want one or two times, so I already knew it a little. On the third day I went to the right class and i did a test on the end of the week, so I was supposed to lern in three days. On the other hand I already knew the subjects from my university, so I believe it worked as a review to me. Fortunately I did pass the test.
Dispite of the little problems, it was very nice, I enjoyed the classes and the staff was very kind to me, I will recommend it for sure.
Thank you for your feedback on your experience at KKCL. We are glad you enjoyed your stay despite not being placed in the course of your choice for the first two days, and that you would recommend the school in the future.
On rare occasions, and due to unforeseen circumstances- such as staff illness - KKCL chooses to combine classes similar in level. It is done in a way that always takes into consideration the new class dynamics, ensuring materials are tailored to the needs of both exam and General English Students.
When these decisions are made, we ensure to inform all students as soon as possible, making sure that everyone is satisfied with the change.
We apologise that this caused confusion for you in your initial days of studying, but we are glad that you had a good a good experience overall.
The classes helped me to improve my English and be more confident when I speak. The housing was perfect because the house was clean, my room was big, the food was good and most of all, the host family was welcoming.

I am very happy that we had this opportunity to stay in KKCL. For our students it was a very important experience to help them find new motivation in learning English. Teachers in KKCL are very friendly and nice and also demanding. They are very creative, encourage students to work hard. The school's location is good, not far from the city center but in a quiet area. Experience with English families was very useful for our students especially because they communicated with them a lot.

We look forward to seeing you again soon this summer!
We liked everything about KKCL: Tuition, organization of social activities, meals, and barbecues. The only bad thing was the hotel. The teachers' rooms had no windows and the bathroom facilities were out of order.

It was a good opportunity for me to visit London. I enjoyed class with my teacher, who by the way was an amazing person. KKCL had an interesting location; the bus station and the underground tube were very close. I thank all the staff. It is a strange town but I felt really secure all my stay.

Dear Student,
We are glad that you enjoyed your stay at KKCL. We look forward to receiving more students from Tunisia. Thank you!
I didn't like the location of the school, but I liked the teachers. I wish the classes were more fun though, and I wish the class was more crowded, because I studied with people I knew from my country and I didn't have the chance to know people from different backgrounds so that the experience got more interesting. As for the housing, I liked the family I stayed with. I felt very welcomed and they were really nice.
