This program is designed for adults that want to enrol in any course of the major of Medicine of the University of Iberoamerica (UNIBE) and, at the same time, receive Spanish lessons in Costa Rica. The program has a duration of one semester, and it includes courses of the major of Medicine, taught in English, and courses of Spanish. During this period, the student can stay with host families or in students’ residences.

ELE USAL Costa Rica is a Spanish Language School located in the University of Iberoamerica (UNIBE) in San José. UNIBE is a leading private university committed to providing integral education, academic excellence and humanistic vision to students. In partnership with the Spanish Language School of the University of Salamanca, ELE USAL Costa Rica-UNIBE opened its doors to students from all over the world who wish to study Spanish as a Foreign Language in the beautiful country of Costa Rica. Its academic offer focuses on three main areas: language and culture courses, professor training programs and international certification of Spanish language through the tests: SIELE, DELE and EsPro.
All the courses and programs have an integral approach that considers reading, listening, writing and speaking skills, a transversal cultural axis and a special emphasis on students’ communicative goals. Additionally, ELE USAL Costa Rica-UNIBE is the only Spanish Language School in Central America certified by the University of Salamanca and accredited internationally.

ELE USAL COSTA RICA does not hold classes on the holiday dates below. The school does not compensate for these holidays, so make sure to choose your start date accordingly.
ELE USAL Costa Rica is in Tibás, a suburb located at 7km west from San José downtown. Tibás includes both industrial and residential neighborhoods which provides visitors and residents a variety of restaurants, supermarkets, schools, health centers and convenient access to public transportation. In other words, Tibás offers a peaceful environment inside an urban landscape.
Homestays are carefully selected and offer students the opportunity to learn more about the local culture in a comfortable setting while studying English in Tibas. These homes are often between 30 - 70 minutes away from the school by public transport. Families usually offer affordable meal plans that allow you to sample the local cuisine. If you have special requests or diet restrictions (because of religion or health reasons), please let us know in advance. Student residences are more suitable for an independent student, who is looking for clean, basic accommodation at an economic price. All students must be 18 - 80. We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.
Your letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you. If you wish to receive your paperwork by express mail, you will be charged $30 when you register.
Please note that we do not book flights for our students. If you are researching airfare costs, we recommend using Kayak.com, a search engine that lets you compare flight options from your home country to Tibas based on your budget, schedule and preferences.
