"Small groups and fast language progress every day."

Victor Sanz i Lopez, student from Spain

Classes where good to acquire progressively language skills. The course book provided focused on important vocabulary and grammar so that the student can practice on the streets before the next class. My teacher was nice and provided quite good education. Regarding location, it was the best, as it is really close to Wan Chai MTR station, which at the same time is close to most MTR lines. Finally, audio recordings provided by the school are really good to practice and refresh everyday's lessons and get prepared for the next one.

"A quick introduction to Cantonese"

Paul Dante, student from USA

The location of the school was great for me being only a 9 minute walk from where I was staying. The school did a great job of contacting me and accommodating my schedule. My teacher was friendly and knowledgeable. I was happy to be in a class with one other student. I think I would not have learned as much with 6 students, and a private lesson would not have allowed me to learn from the other student's mistakes. My one complaint is that I felt like we went over too much material in the two weeks I was taking lessons. I would have preferred to go over greetings and intro conversation stuff for longer rather than covering a new topic every day. The other student in my class commented that in her German class she had taken, they took two weeks to go over what we went over in two days in this course.

"Better than expected and LOVED the experience... thank you!"

Catherine Stuart, student from Hong Kong

I have loved every lesson learning Cantonese. Wessie has been a wonderful teacher and I would recommend her in a second. I have actually enjoyed going to class, it has been a fun and engaging experience that I don't actually want to end! She is excellent and keeping the learning at a good pace and also we've had many laughs along the way. I feel that because of her, I've been able to absorb more than I would have elsewhere.

The location of the school is good although the decor is in need of a refresh. That being said, it is clean and organised and comfortable to be in. The teaching material/ books / audio is good but in some instances the translation and some words are old and in need of a bit of a refresh.

The support staff at the desk have also been friendly, helpful and accommodating to our needs.

There isn't anything I dislike in particular but a suggestion for improvement is to offer a lesson at a restaurant or shop where we can actually use what we've learnt in a real world environment. Especially at the beginner stage when it is daunting to experiment with Cantonese by oneself.

"Disappointed ."

Mrs Derbidge, student from Hong Kong

The center is good in that it offers quite a few options of classes for Mandarin.
My daughter attended online classes. Assessment of ability level was done. But then the course material chosen was far below. They were told many times at what my daughter is at intermediate level. But the material used was so easy that my daughter found the classes boring and she didn't really learn much. I asked for verification of the teacher's qualifications, but was ignored. Neither homework or dictation was set. The teacher really didn't seem to know how to teach. Review of the teaching material showed it more appropriate for a beginner. So I made a complaint and to the center's credit, they immediately took action and changed the teacher to one who was far better. However, this was towards the last week of a months tuition. So I regretted the decision to not complain earlier.
We have come away feeling that not much was learnt. The standard of the tutors are not consistent. Pot luck to get a good one.

We have no experience in other aspects of the center to comment.

"Productive and personalized lesson"

Maya Adachi, student from Hong Kong

i was lucky to have an one-on-one lesson, which was perfect for me. i loved very friendly staffs and well-organized facility. i would love the place more if we had some free-study rooms where students can drop by to review before or after the lesson.

"A rewarding experience, one that kick-started my experiences to follow in learning Cantonese"

Ravin Maharaj, student from South Africa

The school in Wan Chai, HongKong, was great, a good location, friendly staff.

The one-week course was very intense. Many subjects and topics were covered in that week. Perhaps that was too intense for me for me as a beginner. The next time around, I would opt for the two-week course to absorb and learn subjects at a slightly slower pace.

The teacher was good, very patient with a good command of English, which helped the experience.

I will return to the school after I practiced some basics and feel more confident in sentence construction, the memory of vocabulary and tone.

The class size was correct to encourage learning. If I were to do a one-week course again, I would limit class to 3 hours.

Overall, the experience was tremendous and scary enough to learn a difficult language. Some are natural and others are not. The school is very encouraging to continue.
