We know how important it is for our students to be happy where they are living so that they have good memories to take home. This is why we choose all of our homestay accommodation with special care. Students studying at Southbourne School of English stay with a warm and caring host – however, we can only accept students age 10+ in homestay accommodation. Any host accommodating students under the age of 18 has been police-checked and also visited by our dedicated Accommodation Officer.

Hosts provide a very homely environment and located within walking distance or a short bus journey!

You will experience typical British meals (breakfast and dinner) with your host every day. British meals have changed a lot over the past few years! Although we love fish and chips that is not all we eat! British food is now very cosmopolitan and you will experience a wide variety of international cuisine. On school days we give you a freshly prepared packed lunch to eat at the school whilst at the weekends your host will provide your lunches. Special diets, such as coeliac, can be catered for at an extra cost if you tell us in advance.

Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.

If you are studying in the UK for over 11 months, you will receive a reference number called a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) that you need to submit to the UK embassy along with your General Student Visa application. Students who have successfully booked a language course and have paid their fees will receive a CAS from . Please note that UK law states that a CAS can only be issued to students who intend to pursue English language studies for over 11 months.

If you are studying in the UK for 11 months or less, you have to apply for a special visitor visa called a Student Visitor Visa. As a student visitor, you will not be able to work part-time while studying. If you plan to study in the UK for 11 months or less, a letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you.
