Playa del Carmen is the perfect place to combine an intensive Spanish course with a diver course. Our partner dive center is very flexible with schedules so that our students can complete both courses. Your theoretical and practical dive course will be spread over several afternoons during weekdays and your weekends will be for practicing your new diver´s skills on the many dive sites in the area. Depending on your proficiency level in Spanish, the dive instruction can be taken in English.
The diving course includes 4 dives in the sea, 2 in the pool and of course the theory part.

Agora Language Center is located in the center of Playa del Carmen, a few minutes from the main street, the stores, cafés and restaurants and the beach. Whether they choose our intensive course, semi-intensive, private classes or combined group and private classes, the students at Agora are sure to make fast progress, thanks to our experienced and dedicated teachers and the small size of our groups. After class and on weekends, Agora organizes all kinds of social and recreational activities, such as cooking classes, salsa classes, games nights, movie nights, beach volleyball games, snorkeling tours, day trips to the many sites of interest in the area. All these activities are opportunities to practice Spanish out of the classroom.
The nationality and age mix at Agora Language Center varies over different time periods, courses and levels.
Agora Language Center is located right in the center of Playa del Carmen. We are only a 5-minute walk to the main street, Fifth Avenue or La Quinta (in Spanish), under 10 minutes to the beach, one block to the city main square, and just 2 minutes to a supermarket. Most host families and apartments are also very close. Our convenient location allows students to make the most of their time in Playa del Carmen.
The lessons were varied, interesting and helped me learn Spanish quickly! Isabel is an excellent instructor and challenged us to communicate in Spanish the whole time. Great mix of lessons and games. I liked the school so much I’m continuing my learning virtually. Would highly recommend.

Anne has created a welcoming and comfortable space to learn. Isa is an excellent teacher who keeps students on-task, focused and progressing through the day's agenda. We had three people in our group and Isa modified her presentation and interactions with us according to our individual abilities. The work was well balanced between grammar, writing, listening and speaking. I highly recommend Agora to those lucky enough to study in Play del Carmen.

Thank you very much, Jason!
We are very happy to read that you enjoyed your time at Agora.
We enjoyed having you as a student and would love to welcome you again!
Isabel will be very happy too, to read your comments!
¡Feliz Año Nuevo!

I liked my stay at Agora! Anne, the head of the school, is super friendly and my teacher Ana was great - funny, motivating and skilled! The classes covered pretty much all of all aspects of language learning, be it reading, writing, listening or speaking! The school is located very central in the city, so if you are living somewhere there the school is good to reach. I can't say anything about housing since I made my own arrangements. The school, however I can recommend!

I had a small health problem and they had no problems moving the lesson they missed on Saturday to make me recover. The school could be treated a little more (as a structure) but the most important thing, that is, the position and quality of the teachers is excellent.
I recommend it for sure
Our teacher Isabel was very good and was so patient and kind - we really liked her. And Anne, the director of the school, was very also very nice, helpful and easy to deal with, as well as other staff we had contact with.
We liked what we learned but would have appreciated knowing the curriculum in advance so that we knew what to expect when we got there. It would have been more helpful to us is we would have covered simple forms of the past, present and future over the two weeks we were there so that we could carry on simple conversations in Spanish.
The toilet sometimes malfunctioned and you had to use a bucket of water to flush it.
I had the pleasure and good fortune of signing up for Agora in Playa del Carmen on my trip in January 2018. Before I arrived, I communicated with Anne, the center manager. She was quick to respond in detail regarding class hours and my needs. She also gave specific instructions on how to find the school. It turned out that my Airbnb was literally in the same building! That made things easier for me.
Unfortunately my trip took a weird twist when I fell down some stairs and broke my ankle on my 2nd day. Of course I was upset that scuba diving was now off the itinerary, not to mention Chichen Itza and many other sights I had planned to see. However I decided to stick it out with the Spanish lessons. I'm very glad I did!
Anne was super helpful and considerate of my situation, helping me acquire essentials like water and groceries at no expense, just out of kindness. However when you sign up for a language school, "kindness" is not the most important thing. Luckily I learned that they are also very professional, with very qualified teachers.
My teacher was Ana. As a language teacher myself, I think I have a pretty good idea of what to look for, and Ana checks all the boxes and more. In addition to being very friendly and easygoing, she has a very concise grasp of that language, and is definitely a very experienced teacher. She was very responsive to my learning rate of learning, adjusting quickly to suit my pace. I suppose I was in a bit of a weird situation since to begin I wasn't even A1, but I had already memorized about 30 verbs and maybe 100 nouns. I just couldn't really string them together confidently yet. Ana adjusted perfectly. Unfortunately, due to my broken foot, I wasn't really able to participate in any social activities, so I can't comment on those.
All in all I would absolutely continue my lessons here if I had the opportunity.
Lulu is so funny, i like her. The location is nice. I had a great time there.
I wished i learnd a bit more there but it was the first time.... so it was really hard... but i learnd MANY vocabulares - so everything is great.
The host family was very friendly and spent much time with us and vent on tourist places. And we learned and practice through games and cooking.

I found the reception nice. The classrooms were equipped with air-conditioning so it was a very good atmosphere for work. I was very happy because it was important for me to be relaxed for learning.
Moreover, Agora is in the city center so you don't lose any time going to your classroom. They give you material to learn, and you have many activities to do, some which make you use your head in many ways, which is good!
The team gave me a personal schedule, which was adapted to my progression and my availability. They were very accommodating with the students.
My last point, but not the least, was the good mood, the vivacity, and the carefulness from Teresa my teacher! She is a perfect teacher.
I recommend this school for sure!
Thank you, Pierre! We really enjoyed having you as a student, and we hope to see you again in the future. Enjoy Brazil!
We did the intensive Spanish program for three weeks from 9:00-13:00 Monday-Friday. Our teacher Lulú was great! She is very good at teaching and the classes with her were a lot of fun. Everyday we did two hours of grammar and two hours of speaking. The classes were very small, which was nice because we got a lot of attention. Besides those classes they also offered activities, which is a nice way to explore the area. We went to Ek Balam and Akumal, which was a lot of fun. The school is located in Playa Del Carmen, but it is easily accessible even when staying in Cancún by taking the PlayaExpress. We learned a lot during those three weeks and we would definitely return!

I spent 3 1/2 months in Playa del Carmen. Upon arriving, I did not speak Spanish at all. Now as I leave, I feel I managed pretty well for all my current needs.
I enjoyed the cheap formula that gave me tools for my everyday life with local people.
The welcoming and availability of the owner was extraordinary. The owner was a person who loves others and who does not count his time. I also really appreciated the professionalism of the teacher.
I was also able to make friends with other teachers in this school, and I felt the school was like home with their sense of help and sharing.
The premises are ideally located in the center, which was close to everything. The land and the classes are “North American.”
I do not have any negative points!
I have fond memories of my time at this school. Anne, the owner, has become a friend to me and we remain in contact with each other.
Merci beaucoup! Thanks a lot! We just do what we love to do, help students achieve their language goals and try to help them have the best experience while in Mexico. We hope to see you again soon! A bientot j´espere...
