Our General English courses are designed to give you the English language skills to live, work, study and travel in an English-speaking environment.
We offer group English language courses to international students from Elementary level (CEF A1) to Advanced level (CEF C2).
Learn English in small groups of 15 students maximum.
The daily General English lessons covers all of the English language skills – speaking, listening, reading and writing with an emphasis on speaking and listening. The main focus of the General English courses is on communication skills in real life settings.
Our syllabus is task-based, with students carrying out tasks in class to provide you with the necessary skills to manage using the English language in real-life situations.
We also aim to make the syllabus student-centered, placing the emphasis on your training, enabling you to become more independent and provide you with practical skills to apply to your ongoing language learning when you finish your course.
We have stated objectives and weekly targeted learning outcomes which are
achievable and measurable.
Your teachers will monitor your progress throughout your course and you will receive regular feedback and advice.

Cork English Academy is Recognised by the Accreditation and Coordination of English Language Services (ACELS), through the service of Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI). These are the national bodies responsible for the development and management of English Language Teaching organisations.
Our English language school is also a member of Marketing English in Ireland (MEI) which is a further badge of quality and assurance.

English Language School Staff:
Each member of the Cork English Academy team commits themselves to their roles in the areas of teaching, registration, accommodation, social programme, administration, and marketing.
Our teachers are university graduates who have special qualifications to teach English as a foreign language. Many members of the teaching staff have extensive academic and general experience stretching over many years from teaching in Ireland and in other countries.
The nationality and age mix at Cork English Academy varies over different time periods, courses and levels. Throughout the year, the average age is 26. In the summer, the average age is 26.
CEA does not hold classes on the holiday dates below. The school does not compensate for these holidays, so make sure to choose your start date accordingly.

Cork is a small and compact city, known to many as the ‘’City of Bridges’’. The immediate city
centre is an island in the middle of the north and south channels of the River Lee.
Cork English Academy’s school building is conveniently located between the modern Nano
Nagel Bridge, one of the most photographed spots in Cork with views of St. Finbarr’s Cathedral
and Parliament Bridge , a single arch of cut limestone dating back to 1806.
The school is 2 minutes’ walk to St. Patrick’s Street, the main high street in Cork City, the famous
indoor food market The English Market and Oliver Plunkett Street which is known for its nightlife
scene.
The city's streets are lined with cosy cafés, bars, shops, restaurants and street performers. After
class students can stroll through the bustling streets of the city and soak up the
ambience.
Homestays are carefully selected and offer students the opportunity to learn more about the local culture in a comfortable setting while studying English in Cork. These homes are often between 15 - 45 minutes away from the school by public transport. Families usually offer affordable meal plans that allow you to sample the local cuisine. If you have special requests or diet restrictions (because of religion or health reasons), please let us know in advance. It is possible to live in a rented apartment during your study in Cork, but this tends to be more expensive. CEA provides some assistance with apartment rentals or you can rent an apartment on your own. Learn more about apartment housing
We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.
Your letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you.
