No wonder people call Toronto ‘the world within a city.’ This vibrant metropolis, which is home to more than 100 different ethnic and cultural groups, is the most multicultural city on the planet. Set on the shores of beautiful Lake Ontario, Toronto is also Canada’s largest city with a population of 5.1 million. It’s a city of neighborhoods, each with its own rich history and unique charm and character. Funky and fashionable Queen Street West, the eclectic Danforth, and elegant Yorkville are just a few of the favorites.
ILSC students love exploring Toronto’s great outdoors, sailing to the Toronto Islands, picnicking in High Park or taking day trips to spectacular Niagara Falls. You can ride roller coasters at Canada’s Wonderland or ride camels at the world-famous Toronto Zoo. Summer in Toronto means street festivals, celebrations and outdoor concerts late into the night – and don’t miss Caribana in July, a week-long celebration of Caribbean culture with non-stop music and dancing.
