COURSE CONTENT
Part A – 10 lessons progressive language development & practice based mainly on coursebooks to give structure and direction to the process of language learning
Part B – 10 lessons ‘active communication skills’ - lessons which focus on the individual skills of communication – listening, speaking, reading and writing – to ensure rapid progress in the ability to understand and use English accurately in real situations.
Part C – (first period of course – until final 6 weeks before examination) - 5 lessons per week intensive grammar to give additional support and guidance to achieve greater accuracy in English.
Part D – (final period of course – the final 6 weeks up to the examination date) - 5 lessons per week intensive examination practice & guidance to fully prepare for FCE.
Part E - 5 lessons per week teacher-guided self-access study, computer-assisted learning, listening and pronunciation practice under the guidance of a senior teacher.
CLASS SIZE
During the academic year, the maximum class size is 6 students for all taught parts of the course.
ASSESSMENT
This course leads to the examination chosen by the individual student, though it is NOT compulsory to take the examination at the end of the course; all participants will also be given a certificate issued by Severnvale Academy which gives a clear statement of English level - both functionally (communication level) and structurally (grammar level). These levels are assessed through continuous assessment and/or formal testing.

All was very worthy. And I highly recommend Severnvale. The teachers are very good. The location is perfect. And the academy is very familiar. Every weeks are social meeting in order to know each other better.

Homestays are carefully selected and offer students the opportunity to learn more about the local culture in a comfortable setting while studying English in Shrewsbury. These homes are often between 10 - 35 minutes away from the school by public transport. Families usually offer affordable meal plans that allow you to sample the local cuisine. We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.
If you are studying in the UK for over 11 months, you will receive a reference number called a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) that you need to submit to the UK embassy along with your General Student Visa application. Students who have successfully booked a language course and have paid their fees will receive a CAS from . Please note that UK law states that a CAS can only be issued to students who intend to pursue English language studies for over 11 months.
If you are studying in the UK for 11 months or less, you have to apply for a special visitor visa called a Student Visitor Visa. As a student visitor, you will not be able to work part-time while studying. If you plan to study in the UK for 11 months or less, a letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you. If you wish to receive your paperwork by express mail, you will be charged £ 45 when you register.
