The Intensive course is for students who want to maximize their language learning practice during their stay.
The courses focus heavily on speaking and communication skills:
The class will consist in two 45min lessons with a coffee break of 15 minutes. 4 of the 5 days will be in the classroom and the other 1 day you and your group will take the knowledge to the shopping center of "El Recreo", the market of "La Magdalena" or another place where you will have to use what was learned in class in real life situations. (Not applied to the Evening session- here you will work the 5 days in the classroom)
These lessons provide the opportunity to learn the local culture and customs.
The classes stress the use of language in everyday situations. Textbooks and a variety of other materials are used in instruction, including role-playing, newspapers, platforms, magazines and other materials. Students focus on special topics and classes in the afternoon. Topics include: fluency practice, media studies, film and theater, local culture, current events, politics, and research using the internet.

While volunteering I liked the amount of interaction I had with the students and being apart of their learning experience. Somethings that stood out to me the most was the staff and owners willingness to improve the school and bringing diversity into the classrooms through volunteers and media. Things that the school could improve is their young learners classrooms (decor and activities) and volunteer recruitment strategies.

If you have special requests or diet restrictions (because of religion or health reasons), please let us know in advance. Your housing starts on the Sunday before your first day of class and ends on the Saturday after your last day of class, unless otherwise noted. Learn more about homestay housing
