Skool Cornwall
On our English with Walking course we combine learning English in the morning, with walking or hiking in the afternoon.
Each afternoon we head out and discover the landscape made famous by Rosamunde Pilcher, Poldark and most recently – Raynor Winn. We are experienced guides and hikers, we have extensive knowledge of our location, and we will walk at your pace.
The entire Cornish peninsular is linked by hundreds of miles of maintained coast path, which makes some of the most striking and beautiful vistas accessible to walkers.
Our school sits atop rugged cliffs mere steps from the wild Atlantic Ocean in the historic grounds of old mining works at Wheal Kitty.
Class schedule may change depending on availability and season.

Skool offers personalised English courses, combined with guided tours of Cornwall, and a water sports programme for the adventurous. Above all, we are an English Language School: we will help you become a better speaker, reader and writer in English, and will do so in a beautiful location – St Agnes, Cornwall. We really believe in teaching fewer students, and emphasise providing personal attention: all our class sizes are small, we intentionally limit classes to 6 learners. Our teachers are experts, and hold Level 7 qualifications; all are very experienced professional English teachers having taught English for many years. We promise to help you learn, far from busy classrooms, and away from the crowd.
Skool is situated in the historic remnants of an old tin mine’s engine house in Wheal Kitty next to St Agnes, a picturesque village on the north Cornwall coast which is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a Designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A few steps from the classroom, magnificent granite cliffs mark the edge of the earth and the beginning of the wild Atlantic Ocean.
“A great experience and for me the best imaginable way to improve my English.”
Susanna, Bonn. Its close-knit community and warm welcome make St Agnes a magical place to stay and learn in. Our central position makes for an ideal location within our typical Cornish village: coffee shops, pubs and restaurants are within easy walking distance, so too is the white sand beach – the glorious Trevaunance Cove.
We offer a range of programmes - General English, English with Arts and Culture, and English with Water Sports. Our English courses are personalised and practical, placing emphasis on addressing your strengths and weaknesses in English language, whether spoken, written or in reading. We will explore grammar rules, tenses, and the idiosyncrasies of English. Our highly qualified teachers want you to succeed and will make you a better speaker, reader and writer in English.
Our Art and Culture course combines our General English course with touring the cultural highlights of Cornwall. Expect to visit hidden beaches, art galleries, old English estates and gardens, restaurants, and Rosamunde Pilcher and Poldark's Cornwall. This is an unforgettable course, designed to breathe fresh air into your English learning. We also offer an English with Water Sports programme. If you are drawn to an active holiday, we offer sea kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, surfing, river tours, and wild swimming safaris, this programme is for you.

St Agnes’ three pristine beaches – Trevaunance, Trevellas and Chapel Porth – are breathtaking and easily accessible. The village itself is a very pretty one and home to an eclectic range of boutique restaurants and English pubs, serving locally caught fish and Cornish ale and cider. St Agnes is a short car ride from Newquay airport and Truro train station. Its position and magical countryside make it a popular destination for discerning visitors, keen to escape the busy tourist traps.
The school is located in a renovated house of a former mine. The classroom is warm and cozy. I felt very comfortable. The teacher is very committed to the student learning English. It is a good mix of basic knowledge and challenge with texts or poems. Information about culture, nature or useful things was given continuously. That was very helpful for me. I was able to live with a very nice host family. St. Agnes is a beautiful village with a beautiful harbor. The people are friendly. I loved the many walks along the cliffs. I cant`t find anything negative, except that it rains a lot in November. But I knew that and took hiking boots and a good rain jacket with me. So it was no problem.
