For more than 20 years, the EAP program at Niagara College has helped students from around the world develop a strong foundation in the English language- bringing them one step closer to achieving their career dreams.
English for Academic Preparation (EAP): 2 to 18 months duration- No official language proficiency score required (i.e., TOEFL, IELTS)- 22 hours of classes per week
This program has helped students strengthen their English language skills. Focusing on preparing students for the challenges of post-secondary academic studies and career advancement, the program is based on essential communication strategies including oral communication, listening, academic reading, vocabulary development, and writing. It incorporates the latest language learning methodologies along with Canadian cultural studies.
Short term EAP Program:
This program is two months in duration and ideal for students that are unable to attend a full-time semester of the EAP program.
Summer English Program: 1 months duration and 25 hours of English programming per week
Summer English program is conversation-based and less formal than the EAP program. It is designed to help students maximize their speaking abilities in diverse situations and to increase their knowledge of Canadian culture through a number of events and social activities. All students undergo English testing upon arrival and are placed into classes depending on their language proficiency.
