When I got to the Arabia Experience Institute I felt as if the place had not been used in weeks. The facilities were not located in Muscat, but in Seeb, a town over 35 minutes away by taxi.
The teacher I had did not seem to know how to deal with someone with my complete lack of Arabic despite being told that this would be alright. Even though I booked a one on one course, on day two, another student was added to my class.
On this day, cleaning was taking place which made the whole place seem a but more reputable. There were no after class activities as were advertised, no cultural excursions or seminars. It was class only.
The "notebook" that we worked from was a photocopied pamphlet which was very difficult to read the Arabic as it had been copied too many times. The facilities are located very far from hotels. I did enjoy learning from the teacher when she taught reading and writing, but this was not much of the course in the three days I attended. I did not go back for day 4 or 5 of my course as I was completely unsatisfied and thought it a waste of my time and money.
I'm very sorry to see that you had a bad experience. However, I was never informed that this was the case. You never spoke with any of our staff, so we weren't able to address your problems.
Unfortunately, many of our teachers were sick during your course, so some changes had to be made at the last minute. We did our best to inform you about the situation, and I'm sorry if you were not adequately informed.
Student residences are more suitable for an independent student, who is looking for clean, basic accommodation at an economic price. All students must be 17 - 75. Your housing starts on the Sunday before your first day of class and ends on the Saturday after your last day of class, unless otherwise noted. Student residences often do not include any meal plan.
